Benefits of SnapPleat
The SnapPleat Drapery System is the Architect’s favorite drapery treatment. It is truly a window covering solution of where function meets form.
Snap Pleat Drapery is created by a fabric tape with snaps sewn to the top edge of the drapery panel. When these snaps are attached to the carriers on the rod, this creates an “S” shape design. This treatment is one of the best functioning vertical stacking treatments. It will have a tighter “stack back” then traditional drapery because there are no pleats to create bulk.
A few of the attributes of The Snap Pleat Drapery are:
- Soft flowing appearance
- Suitable for Commercial and Residential
- Panels can be pressed flat
- No Hooks or Pins needed
- Low track profile
- Smaller Stack back then pleated drapery
- Looks good from front or back.
- Rods can be manual, motorized and curved
Applications
Residential
SnapPleat Draperies are excellent window coverings for nearly all areas of Residential Interiors. In Living Rooms where a softening of the light is needed, SnapPleat Sheers provide an elegance to these spaces. The beauty of sheers is when the natural light seems to illuminate the fabric.
In areas where light control is needed, SnapPleat Blackout is perfect for darkening bedrooms. With the Overlapping Master Carrier option, light seepage is not a concern.
To achieve multiple levels of light control, the SnapPleat Double SnapTrac provides both a sheer view as well aslight control.
Contract
SnapPleat Drapery work well in all areas of Contract including Hotels, Healthcare, Restaurants and Offices. Many times in these conditions, the drapery needs to look good from both sides as it is visible. With the unique “S” shape design of SnapPleat, there is no front or back as there are no pleats. If the fabric looks good on both sides, then the drapery will look good. This is perfect for restaurant windows with a street level view, an interior office window where both sides need to look good or in a hotel lobby.
SnapPleat is excellent for Hospitality and Healthcare. The ease of Baton Control Rods provides low maintenance solutions. The Snap On – Snap Off feature of the panels makes it easy for cleaning and eliminates annoying pins.
Build + Design
The SnapPleat Drapery System is built with both function and form in mind. To build the SnapPleat Drapery System requires choosing among the 6 areas of options available. These are: Rods, Fullness, Stack Back, Master Carriers, Hemming Options and Lining & Fabrics.
SnapTrac Rods
There are various forms the SnapPleat Rod is available. Below is an explanation of the different options. All rods can be drawn one way to the left or one way to the right as well as split in the center.
When considering manually controlled rods, baton drawn rods are a good choice when cords need to be avoided, such as in hospitality and health care facilities. The baton control rods are simply pushed or pulled with a clear wand attached to the master carrier. In order to fully operate such a system, clear access along the rod face needs to be provided.
Baton Control
The Baton Control SnapTrac Rod is a simple rod that can be mounted on the ceiling or on a wall with brackets. The rod comes in white, silver and brown. This rod is bendable with a 6″ or 8″ radius.
Baton Control with Lip
The Baton Control with Lip SnapTrac Rod is a simple rod that can be mounted on the ceiling. The rod comes in white only and is not bendable.
The new DS drapery is sleek great for lightweight draperies. It is available in white only.
Cord Control
When cord control is needed because of obstructions or in residential applications where cord control is preferred, the Cord Control SnapTrac is offered. With a very low track profile of 3/4″ the track nearly disappears when it is flush mounted on a ceiling. The rod is available in white, silver or brown and is bendable to an 8″ radius. Curved Rods
SnapTrac Rods can be curved in Baton Control, Cord Control, Deco Rods and Motorized options. Check the details of each rod for the minimum bending radius.

DecoTrac
DecoTrac offers a contemporary design for the SnapPleat SnapTrac Rod. These baton controlled rods, come in four finishes: white, satin nickel, antique bronze and black and are available with either overlap or butt master carriers. Also, this rod is bendable with an 8″ radius.
Motorized Rods
The ultimate choice for SnapTrac Rods is SmartTrac. SmartTrac is a wireless motorized solution for all types of applications including residential and contract. The SmartTrac creates a positive user experience with superior performance, reliability and ease of operation.
One issue with manually operated draperies is that the user tends to tug on the drapery edge to operate the panel, thereby damaging the treatment. SmartTrac extends the lifespan of draperies be eliminating the damage associated with manual operation.
SmartTrac is compatible with various types of controls from hand-held remotes, wireless wall switches, table top controls, timers and third-party automation systems.
With SnapPleat SmartTrac, the difference is in the details, our new SnapPleat SmartTrac rail is:
- Aesthetically pleasing patented cover design conceals unsightly cables and protects the connectors and control modules inside the motor.
- Flexible patented master carrier reduces friction and is adaptable to various drapery types.
- Easy Installation spring loaded one-touch hardware
- Quiet Motor design and the use of timing belt provides quiet operation
- Efficient Touch Motion feature allows the user to activate the motorized drapery simply by pulling the fabric
Fullness
Fullness on a drapery refers to the amount of fabric width compared to the drapery rod size. For example a typical fullness for a pinch pleat sheer drapery would be 3-1. This means that there is 3 times the amount of fabric in the width compared to the drapery rod. So if the rod measured 100″, then the drapery would have 300″ of fabric in its width.
SnapPleat Draperies work with 4 types of fullness: 60%, 80%, 100% and 120%. To understand Fullness on SnapPleat Draperies, please consider the following:
120% equals 2.4 times the track width
100% equals 2 times the track width
80% equals 1.6 times the track width
60% equals 1.2 times the track width
Looking at the drawing to the right, you can see the top drawing shows the fullest option. This would be 120% full. The descending drawings show 100%, 80% and 60% respectively.
For Blackout Lined draperies 60% or 80% would be sufficient as you would not need them to be too full as they would only be drawn closed when needed and will stack back less.
For Decorative Drapes, 100% fullness is good as the drapery will not appear “skimpy”.
Sheers would require 120% fullness, because sheers need the extra fabric due to its lightweight nature.
Stack Back
A key advantage of The SnapPleat Drapery is its tight stack back. This means how much the drapery stacks back on the rod when it is pushed to its most open position. Since SnapPleat Drapery have no pleats, they can stack back to a smaller distance then typical pleated draperies.
To figure out what the stack back is on a treatment, there is a chart that needs to referred to. To the right is that chart.
Stack back is figured first on the fullness of the drapery: 60%, 80%, 100%, or 120%. This you can see on the top row.
Then you look up the track size below in the column of your fullness.
Once you found that, you scroll to the right to find the stack back amount in inches. This is for one side. If the rod is a center split, this amount is divided in two for each side.
For example, a 100% full drapery with a 150″ rod would have a 35 1/4″ stack back.
Master Carriers
The Master Carrier is what pulls and pushes the drapery form its open or closed position. There are two types of Master Carriers, Overlap Master and Butt Master.
The Overlap Master is good for Blackout Lined Drapery where you want no light seepage where the drapery leading edges meet.
The Butt Master offers a more pleasing appearance, as the S shape design is not interrupted. The Butt Master is available with all SnapTrac Rods.
The drawing below shows the different results of the two types of Master Carriers.
Hemming Options
There are two basic bottom hemming options. The Euro Hem and the standard 4″ Double Hem, both pictured below.
The Euro Hem is a weighted rope that is sewn into the bottom edge of the drapery. The weighted rope provides extra encouragement for the panel to “tube” nicely and has no extra layers of fabric which is noticeable with sheers. Also if the fabric look good on both sides the drapery will look good on both sides, which is nice on an interior glass wall in an office.
The Euro Hem is also a nice option when the drapery hem is elevated such as it would be above a heating unit.
Linings
SnapPleat Draperies and be fabricated both unlined and lined. There are various choices for adding lining. For lining that allows light to pass through, there is the Translucent Lining which is available in white or ivory as well as fire retardant for contract installations. When working with silk or if the drapery requires extra body, a flannel interlining is available. This lining goes in between the face fabric and the lining fabric.
When complete blackout is required, the Blackout Lining is available in white or ivory as well as fire retardant for contract installations.
