Last week we had the honor of presenting at the Fort Hamilton Army base in Brooklyn, New York. It was great being back at the historic Fort Hamilton base, where we were invited to speak at the AIA Brooklyn Chapter Member Dinner. We had previously installed our Light Bloc System as well as Crank Shade System (examples at the bottom) in an adjacent building near where we presented. We happen to be members of the NYC AIA Chapter and we were delighted to speak about our current lunch and learn program “Technology and the Green Window” to Architects in Brooklyn.
Overall there were around 70 active AIA Brooklyn Chapter Members at Fort Hamilton, where they had dinner and watched our presentation. The site of the presentation was quite extraordinary. Fort Hamilton if you didn’t already know is one of several posts that are part of the region, which is headquartered by the Military District of Washington. Its mission is to provide the New York metropolitan area with military installation support for the Army National Guard and the United States Army Reserve. With a mission like that, how could we not jump at the opportunity to present our new lunch and learn program “Technology and the Green Window”.
Our “Technology and the Green Window” Lunch and Learn program began with a quote direct from the AIA website itself, on the idea of sustainability in Architecture and Design. From there we went into numerous topics of discussion including: LEED Points, Reducing Heat and Glare, Motorization and Product Innovations.
