I have recently purchased a copy of “Pratical Drapery Cutting” by E. Noetzli. It was published in 1906 in the town of Hampstead. Hampstead is an area of London, England, located 4 miles north-west of Charing Cross. It is located in Inner London. It is part of the London Borough of Camden. It is known for its intellectual, liberal, artistic, musical and literary associations and for the large and hilly parkland Hampstead Heath. It is also home to some of the most expensive housing in the London area, or indeed anywhere in the world. The village of Hampstead has more millionaires within its boundaries than any other area of the United Kingdom.
The book takes an interesting look at the workroom procedures of cutting drapery. I like the sketches in the book, some of which I share below. There are several references about proportions as well as to historical references such as mentioning draperies in the Greek and Roman times and in the middle ages.
